Odoo Database Transfer Guide
Everything you need to know about transferring your Odoo database to Cloudient.
What we need
Preferred: Complete Docker image
The simplest transfer is the running Docker image and volume mounts, containing:
- Odoo code
- Odoo modules
- Database
- File-store
This provides the fastest and most reliable migration path.
Alternative: Backup files
If the Docker image is not available, the bare minimum required is:
- Odoo backup file from the Odoo database management app, or a PostgreSQL dump and file-store zip
- Custom modules
Please note: this route requires additional reconstruction work and carries an additional set-up charge.
Supported versions
All versions of Odoo can be hosted.
However, any version that is out of official support by Odoo S.A. or OCA must either:
- Have access restrictions in place and not be publicly available, or
- Have evidence of a security test
How to transfer the files
There are two options for getting the files to us:
- Your current provider can supply a download link to the files
- If that is not available, Cloudient can provide a secure upload location for the files to be placed
Once the files are received and verified, the set-up activity will be planned in and scheduled with you.
Optional: Access control
If you would like to restrict access to your Odoo instance, the simplest method is IP-based restrictions. Access will be limited to specified IP addresses only.
For each location that requires access, visit What's my IP address and send us a note of the IP address shown.
