Most websites are harder to look after than they should be. A traditional content management system means a database to back up, an application to keep patched, plugins that break on update, and a login you have long since forgotten. lazysite removes all of that - and Cloudient runs it for you, on our own European infrastructure.
The easiest website to maintain
lazysite is a website engine built on one idea: your whole site is plain text files. That single decision is what makes it the easiest site there is to keep up to date.
- No CMS to maintain
- There is no database and no admin application - nothing to patch, nothing to update, nothing to be compromised. The most common website security problems simply do not apply.
- Edit plain text
- Every page is a Markdown file: readable text. Change a price, update your opening hours, add a page - it is just editing text, with no interface to learn.
- No build, no deploy
- Save the file and it is live. No build step, no pipeline, no waiting. The first visit renders the page and caches it; every visit after that is fast, static HTML.
- Let an assistant do it
- Because the content is plain text and publishing is an open interface, an AI assistant can make changes for you - "add last night's reviews", "write a post about the spring opening" - within rules you set. This very site was built and is maintained that way.
- Your content, always yours
- Your site is a folder of text files that you own. No lock-in, fully portable, exportable whenever you ask.
What we take responsibility for
You look after the words. We take responsibility for everything else, on infrastructure in Europe:
- Hosting and uptime
- Your site runs on our own European infrastructure, configured properly and kept running.
- Backups and security
- Regular, tested backups, SSL certificates issued and renewed, and the server hardened and monitored.
- Publishing access
- WebDAV, an API, and scoped AI-agent access - set up, secured, and limited to exactly what you need.
- Keeping it current
- We keep lazysite itself up to date, so you never have to think about it.
Your website should be the easiest thing you own to keep up to date, and it should stay yours. With lazysite hosted by Cloudient, editing a page is editing a text file - or asking an assistant - and your data stays in Europe, on infrastructure we run responsibly.
This site runs on lazysite
cloudient.net is itself a lazysite - the site you are reading now. It is edited as plain Markdown and hosted on the same European infrastructure we would run yours on. If you like how it works, that is rather the point.
Open source, no lock-in
lazysite is open source under the MIT licence. You are never tied to us: your content is portable text and the engine is free to run anywhere. We earn your business by running it well, not by locking you in.
