When setting up your email, use the settings below. Please note the marked recommendations - the secure options protect your messages in transit and are the ones we recommend in every case. Webmail is quick and easy to get you going, while a dedicated email app is often better integrated and more convenient.
Common account settings
- Username
- Your full email address
- Password
- The password for your mailbox
- Webmail
- https://webmail.[domainname]
- Hostname
- mail.[domainname]
IMAP settings
- Authentication
- Normal password
- SSL/TLS port
- 993 (recommended)
- STARTTLS port
- 143
We recommend IMAP with SSL/TLS on port 993. The unencrypted option on port 143 is not recommended.
POP3 settings
- Authentication
- Normal password
- SSL/TLS port
- 995 (recommended)
- STARTTLS port
- 110
POP3 downloads mail off the server and is not recommended for most people - IMAP keeps your mail in sync across devices. If you do use POP3, use SSL/TLS on port 995. The unencrypted option on port 110 is not recommended.
SMTP settings
- Authentication
- Normal password
- SSL/TLS port
- 465 (recommended)
- STARTTLS port
- 587
Use SMTP with SSL/TLS on port 465 for sending. Port 25 without encryption is not recommended.
Always choose the encrypted (SSL/TLS) option where it is offered. Sending or collecting mail without encryption exposes your username, password and messages in transit.
Minimum password requirements
- At least 8 characters long
- At least 1 uppercase and 1 lowercase character
- At least 1 number
For stronger passwords that are still easy to remember, see our password policy guidance and security page.
