Odoo database transfer guide

What we need and how the process works when moving an existing Odoo deployment to Cloudient.

If you already run Odoo elsewhere, we can move it to our European infrastructure and take responsibility for running it. This guide covers what we need from you and how the transfer works. If anything is unclear, get in touch and we will talk it through.

What we need

The transfer is quickest and most reliable when we receive the complete running environment. Where that is not possible, we can rebuild from backup files instead.

Preferred: complete Docker image
The running Docker image and its volume mounts, containing the Odoo code, Odoo modules, database and file-store. This provides the fastest and most reliable migration path.
Alternative: backup files
An Odoo backup file from the database management app (or a PostgreSQL dump together with a file-store zip), plus your custom modules. This route requires additional reconstruction work and carries an additional set-up charge.

Supported versions

All versions of Odoo can be hosted. Any version that is out of official support by Odoo S.A. or the OCA must either:

We can advise on the right approach for your situation.

How to transfer the files

There are two options for getting the files to us:

Once the files are received and verified, we plan and schedule the set-up with you.

Optional: access control

If you would like to restrict access to your Odoo instance, the simplest method is IP-based restriction, limiting access to specified IP addresses only. For each location that requires access, find your address using What's my IP address and send it to us.
